Documented direction of the patch

Balance Patch 1 lowers health or damage for several named bosses and enemies and buffs selected weapons and defensive options. Those are documented changes and give a factual basis for expecting affected encounters to be more forgiving.

What players reported

Several participants in a post-patch discussion described the game as easier, and some felt the adjustment may have gone too far. One repeat-play account also described much faster boss kills. These are labeled anecdotes, not measured telemetry or a representative survey.

GamesRadar's view is that the combined economy, enemy, and gear changes make players materially stronger, but that remains an editorial assessment rather than a universal difficulty measurement.

A fair way to judge it for your build

Compare one affected encounter on the same platform and current version, using the same weapon and a similar upgrade state. Separate shorter fight length, reduced incoming damage, better tracking, and your own familiarity instead of collapsing them into one feeling of 'easier.'

This comparison method is our editorial guidance. We have not run a controlled gameplay test, and comments written before console rollout may describe a different build from later PS5 play.

Bottom line

It is reasonable to say the named changes reduce friction in affected fights. It is not yet reasonable to say Mortal Shell II is now too easy for everyone, because platform timing, build choice, player experience, and opinion all differ.

Four questions for a useful difficulty comparison

Ask four separate questions: Was the enemy named in the patch? Did the fight end sooner? Did you survive more mistakes? Did a buffed weapon or defensive option change your result? Keeping those answers separate helps distinguish documented balance direction from familiarity gained through repeated play.

Also record platform and version. Some community comments were posted before console rollout, so two sincere players may have been describing different builds. Treat a repeat-play account as a useful example, not representative proof, and avoid converting an editorial impression into a universal verdict.

The most defensible conclusion is encounter-specific: affected enemies may feel more forgiving under the current build. Claims about the whole game's difficulty need broader, comparable evidence than the sources available here.
