The short version
The patch changes the currency for revealing Shell map locations from Glimpses to Gloom and refunds Glimpses already spent for that purpose. It also raises enemy gold drops, doubles gold from enemies in Mammon, and reduces the Gloom cost of weapon smelting at the Tarforge by 75%.
Combat changes run in both directions: named bosses and enemies lose health or damage, while selected weapons, Seal Guard, and five Tarstones receive buffs. The notes also mention miscellaneous crash fixes, bug fixes, and performance updates without naming each technical issue.

What the changes mean for a returning player
A sensible first session is: collect any eligible Glimpse refund, review weapon-smelting costs before committing Gloom, then reassess a weapon or defensive option that received a buff. This order is a practical recommendation derived from the confirmed economy and gear changes, not an official progression route.
Do not assume that every old crash is fixed. Update first, record your platform and version, and treat a continuing technical issue as unresolved unless the notes explicitly name it.

FAQ
Was the patch on every platform when announced? No. The August 20 announcement said it was live on PC and that console versions were coming shortly. Later PS5 reports belong on the dedicated status page; this overview does not extend them to Xbox.
Does the patch make every build stronger? No universal ranking can be supported from these notes. It strengthens named tools and weakens named encounters, but it does not publish complete post-patch build telemetry.
